Clay's First Birthday

Clay turned 1 on January 3. We didn't really have a big celebration. That day we had playgroup, which includes another boy, Benjamin, who was born the same day. So we put hats on the kids and sang, during which time they stared at us, or ate the hats.

That night, Julia set up a birthday cupcake with a nice "1" candle that Grandma Linda had given us at Christmas. The singing of "Happy Birthday" ended with Clay putting out the candle with his bare finger. Parenting is not a science...
