Kazalinoland
  December 2001

We spent a relaxed holiday season enjoying activities here in Washington, including a visit to the U.S. Botanic Garden. Just before Christmas, Julia's sister Maia came to meet her new niece and lend a hand keeping Clay occupied. After a hearty Christmas eve dinner with neighbors, we spent Christmas day opening the many packages sent from our far-flung family and friends. Here are Clay and Lucy in their Christmas finery:

Lucy's doing well, outgrowing her newborn clothes as she bulks up and stretches out. She's willing to sleep longer stretches on her own in the crib, but the coveted sleeping through the night milestone hasn't been reached. She's more interested in looking around at the world and the mobile that provided her brother with so much stimulation is a hit with her, too.

The weather's finally getting more winter-like here, so we have to be a little more creative in finding places to go with Clay. Judd took him to the car show one day, where he spend most of the time trying out the controls in many different models.

We'll head to Florida in late January to visit Judd's parents and his brother's family. Julia's planning on returning to work in early February, subject to the proceedings of a case that's nearing the trial stage.
